Apple Caramel bars
Ingredients:
Base & Topping
4 cups flour 4 cups quick cooking oats 3 cups brown sugar 2 tsp baking soda 2 1/2 cups butter melted unsalted
Mix on low speed, press half of mixture in bottom of size 200 pan Bake 8 minutes @ 350f. Save the rest for topping
Filling 3 cups caramel sauce 1 cup flour
Mix in pan bring to a boil until thickened slightly, ( 3- 5 min.)
4 cups coursly chopped apple ( granny smith) 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans.
Preparation:
Remove from oven , sprinkle with apple & nuts over the warm base Pour caramel mix over top sprinkle w/ remaining topping.
bake 25 minutes until golden brown.
cool 1/2 hour in until set.
Cut into bars.
This makes 1(200) pan or 2 (13X9) baking dishes. Great with vanilla ice cream or by itself...so simple and good!!! a real crowd pleaser..Lenny. |
